Quarterly Report 2019: How Many Slices Eaten So Far?
A month late for a quarterly report, but it's tax season, and time for some accounting.... something I typically save for year's end. Who'm I kidding? I usually procrastinate until January. Just determined not to experience the pain of a full year's worth of pizza math again.
By my estimation, I've eaten pizza 79 times in 2019. Of those 79, I've hit 60 different places, 35 that I've visited for the first time. There are 14 places I've hit more than once. Repeats? Gruppo (our EV Sunday regular with our son), Village Square Pizza (pictured, just opened, and becoming my local), Joe & Pat's (one of my favorite local spots I don't go to as often as I'd like, actually). Arcade, then 10 places tied at two visits. But four of the repeats I'd never visited before, one in Morningside Heights.
This isn't an SAT question, just a reckoning. The SAT question would be: If all of the preceding is true, how much pizza is too much pizza? A) No such thing B) Depends on the number of ronicups C) This question is un-American D) Let's circle on this at year's end.
For context, I ate pizza 125 times in 2018 from 80 different places and 51 I hadn't tried before (down from my high of 78 in one year).
That's all to say, 2019 is on track to be a banner year for pizza. And here's something I've never tracked... slice count: 193 slices. I'm on track for close to 600 slices. According to the interwebs, each person in America eats 46 slices a year.
I'm picking up the slack for some of you. Get out there. Get crusting.
